It’s garden planning time again and if you haven’t started yet – it’s not too late.
Here’s a few tips to help get you started this year:
- Plan your garden & order seeds by January or February. Some plants can be started early indoors.
- During planning decide the following:
- Who will be doing the work?
- What does your family like to eat?
- How much space is available?
- Draw your garden plan on graph paper first showing arrangement and spacing
Other preferences to consider:
Cost: You may want to grow the expensive produce and buy the least expensive ones your family eats
Nutrition: Some produce pack more vitamins and minerals than others. Nutrient dense vegetables include sweet potatoes, carrots, spinach, collard greens, red peppers and kale
Appearance: Flowers , leaves, and fruit of some produce could add beauty to your landscape
